LED Street Light Manufacturer

LED street lights have become very popular in the past decade for a multitude of reasons. One of the biggest reasons for this is the very noticeable improvement in energy efficiency, which results in lower operating costs over time compared to traditional forms of lighting such as HIDs and sodium lamps. Also, the use of LED technology dramatically reduces or even virtually eliminates maintenance requirements and regular servicing, which results in a huge cost savings throughout its rated lifespan.

The construction and performance of Straits® lights is also a large contributing factor to their popularity. Our lights feature an powder coated aluminum housing construction that is sealed from the elements with an IP65 rating. This houses an array of LUMILEDS LED chips mounted on an aluminum board covered with a type II or type III lens for further durability. STF series street lights have a rated lifespan of 50,000 hours and carry a five year warranty.

Straits® STF street lights come in a variety of wattage ranges depending on the users requirements. Smaller units start at 50 watts and 100 watts for modest illumination requirements where lower energy consumption is the main priority. Larger units come in 150 watt and 200 watt ranges for applications requiring significantly higher illumination. All of these lights come in 5000 kelvin color temperature ranges, which is the closest to natural daylight.

These lights are used in a wide variety of outdoor applications that require broad lighting coverage from a light fixture mounted high up on a pole. This can include places such as streets and roadways, as well as alleyways. They are also used in large commercial and industrial driveways, as well as large parking lots requiring high illumination levels.

LED Street Lights vs. HID and Sodium Lamp Street Lights

While there are still quite a few traditional street lights still in operation, the majority of municipal and commercial users are realizing the advantages of LED lighting. There are many benefits to the use of LEDs in street lighting, which include:

  • Drastically lower energy consumption
  • Higher lumen to watt ratios
  • Much longer lifespan
  • Maintenance costs reduced or practically eliminated altogether
  • Increased safety and reduction in accidents due to better lighting accuracy

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do LED lights flicker?
Unlike fluorescent and other traditional types of lighting, LEDs do not flicker as there is no constant “switching” required for their operation. Even as they age, LED lights do not flicker like common high pressure sodium lamps.

Q: Do LED lights require regularly scheduled maintenance?
By their nature, LED lights are maintenance free. There may be repairs required to housings and mounting apparatus due to weather damage or accidents but the electrical components of an LED fixture last the life of the unit, which in the case of STF street lights is 50,000 hours.

Q: Do these LED street lights use special mounting?
No, STF series street lights use standard arm mounting to allow for simple and expedient retrofitting onto common light poles.
